About Fragile X

What is Fragile X Syndrome?
The most common inherited cause of intellectual disability and autism. It affects 1 in 4,000 boys and 1 in 8,000 girls.

What does it mean to be a carrier?
1 in 150 women carry the Fragile X premutation. Unlike most carrier statuses, Fragile X carriers can experience health issues including early menopause, fertility challenges, and tremors.

Why does awareness matter?
Fragile X is 3-5x underdiagnosed. Medical guidelines say every child diagnosed with autism should be tested for Fragile X. That is not happening.

How can I get tested?
Ask your doctor for an FMR1 genetic test. Simple blood test. Critical for family planning.

About the Mission

Is Fragile What? a charity?
No. For-profit awareness brand. Commerce drives sustainable awareness better than charity.

Who started this?
Lance and Autumn Nybye. Their son Sean was diagnosed with Fragile X at 22 months. They had to fight for genetic testing. Fragile What? exists so no family has to fight like they did.

How else can I help?
Wear the earrings. When someone asks what they are, tell them. Join the Silent X Challenge on July 21.
